Warm vanilla and maple flavors make these baked Maple Glazed Vanilla Bean Donuts a delightful treat. They go well with tea or coffee for breakfast or as a sweet snack.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 vanilla bean, seeds scraped or 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • For the Maple Glaze:
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tbsp milk as needed
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and grease a donut pan

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt

Add the scraped vanilla bean seeds or vanilla extract, buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and maple syrup to the dry ingredients

Mix until well combined

Spoon the batter into a piping bag or a zip-top bag with a corner snipped off

Pipe the batter into the donut molds, filling each about 2/3 full

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts spring back when lightly touched and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean

While the donuts are baking, prepare the maple glaze

In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt

Add milk as needed to achieve your desired glaze consistency

Once the donuts are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely

Dip each cooled donut into the maple glaze, allowing any excess to drip off

Place the glazed donuts back on the wire rack to set

Optional: Drizzle extra maple glaze over the top of the donuts for an extra burst of flavor

Enjoy your homemade Maple Glazed Vanilla Bean Donuts!
