Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/2 cup sliced green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast

Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt

Pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil

Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes

Cover the dough and let it rest in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size

Divide the dough into small balls and roll them out into thin rounds, about 6 inches in diameter

Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan to 350F 175C

Carefully place the dough rounds in the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side

Drain on paper towels

Spread marinara sauce on each fried dough round, then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese

Add pepperoni, olives, and green bell pepper on top of the cheese

Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese

Bake in a preheated oven at 400F 200C for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly

Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve hot
